**Uses of Zoladex 3.6mg Injection**
**For Men:**
Zoladex treats prostate cancer in men by reducing the production of testosterone, a hormone. Lowering testosterone levels helps manage and slow the progression of prostate cancer.
**For Women:**
Zoladex has multiple uses for women:
– Treats breast cancer.
– Manages endometriosis, where cells typically found in the womb lining appear elsewhere, often near the womb.
– Treats benign growths in the womb known as uterine fibroids.
– Thins the lining of the womb before a surgical procedure on the womb.
– Helps control the release of eggs from the ovaries as part of infertility treatment (when combined with other medications).
In women, Zoladex works by reducing estrogen production, which helps treat these conditions.
**How Zoladex Works**
Zoladex contains goserelin and suppresses the production of sex hormones, specifically testosterone and estrogen. This suppression is useful for treating breast and prostate cancer. Zoladex acts as a Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) agonist, inhibiting the secretion of pituitary gonadotropins. This reduces hormone levels that contribute to the development and progression of certain cancers.
**How to Take Zoladex Injection**
A doctor or nurse injects the Zoladex 3.6 mg Implant under the skin of your stomach every four weeks (28 days). You should continue with the treatment regularly, even if you feel well, until your doctor advises you to stop. If you are starting treatment with an aromatase inhibitor, begin Zoladex treatment at least 6-8 weeks before and continue throughout the treatment with the aromatase inhibitor to ensure effectiveness.
